I-80 Question Mark

UPDATE — Yep, it’s official. The I-80 tolling application has been rejected. Governor Rendell is calling a special legislative session to address the looming transportation budget gap this creates. More to come soon.

Governor Rendell is holding a 4 o’clock press conference to talk about I-80 tolling. This comes after a Patriot-News report claiming, via sources, that the federal government has rejected the state’s tolling application. If that’s true, lawmakers will suddenly need to fill a $470 million-plus gap in transportation funding.

Like most other Capitol reporters, I’ve called Congressional offices, Senate offices, and the Rendell Administration. I’ve yet to independently confirm the PN report.

More…as it happens.
