Conklin close to declaring victory

According to PA2010 and Capit0lwire, State Representative Scott Conklin has all but declared victory in the Democratic lieutenant governor’s race. “We’re expecting those numbers to stay intact, the question is just whether we’re over or under” [the automatic recount margin], he tells PA2010.

The Centre County lawmaker ran an under-the-radar campaign against former Philadelphia Comptroller Jonathan Saidel, who had the Democratic Party’s official backing. With 99.6 percent of precincts reporting, Conkin leads Saidel by a bit more than 4,400 votes. Retired Philadelphia Judge Doris Smith-Ribner is in third place.
